| What is the most important thing in our lives? Our name. When we welcome a new member into our family what better celebration could there be than a baby naming ceremony? This is a time to bring together family and friends to celebrate new life and the future for that wee person. Parenting is a big job so many parents ask some special people in their lives to take on the role of godparent or sponsor for the child so the ceremony is a time for those special people to declare their support of the parents and their willingness to support and guide the child through their coming years. Our name is unique to each of us – it is said, it is whispered, it is yelled, it is sung, it is shouted, it is screamed, it is used for encouragement, it is used for instructions, it is used for requests, it is used with love – it is used in so many ways. So to celebrate that name and to gather friends and family together for that celebration is a great occasion. It sets the scene to go forward positively and with hope for a wonderful future for that baby knowing that everyone wants the very best for that little one. |
