This is a very old ceremony that originated in France when the bride and groom came from two neighbouring vineyards. This ceremony marked the joining together of the two neighbouring vineyard families with the blending together of their wines. There ceremony begins with two individual wines – a white wine and a red wine. The groom is represented by the red wine and he pours this into the central vessel. The bride is represented by the white wine and she pours this into the central vessel. Their own unique rose has been created!! This wonderful new, unique wine is then poured into two glasses – one for the groom and one for the bride who can then begin their marriage by toasting each other with their own wine. |
